Cinnamon is the inner bark of a tropical evergreen tree. In ancient
Egypt it was used medicinally and as a flavoring for beverages. In
ancient Rome, Nero burned a year's supply on his wife's funeral pyre to
signify the depth of his loss. The Dutch established a system of
cultivation that exists to this day.
